Helen Claude and Karl went out to open house at St. Mary’s College where Sonny goes. Was nearly 5pm when they came home. I was up stairs. Had wrote a letter to George Gallman also sent a birthday card. So after dinner Karl and I went over the hill in back of us and mailed the letter. When came back Karl had some ice cream. Was kind of funny as Helen didn’t know Karl had gone with me. She was watching tv. Karl came in the kitchen. I ask him if he wanted to go mail letter. We injoyed the evening moon – was out so big and bright. I finished reading some old letters and cut stam off the envelopes. Dorothy knows a lady who saves them for something so when I see her again. I am listening to Billy Grahm tonight. He is on 10:15pm. Helen says Sonny has a nice room. Was a lot of people to open house.

Got Karl off to his play school. He cried after his mother this morning. He didn’t want her to go to work. But she had to as she paying on her car. Karl was fine in a few minutes after Helen left. I finished my ? then had breakfast. Did my laundry – was nearly time for Karl to come home. Did the dishes . taken broom went out in front to sweep down steps. Car came and honked. I dropped the broom and ran down to the car looked and didn’t see Karl – Said to lady, where is the little Maurer boy. O I guess you just stopped by to give my daughter something as the lady had a roll of pamer in her hand. There was a great big black dog in back of station wagon. Lady said was hers. Car looked near same color everything as other one that Karl road in the morning. Did I feel silly when lady said she brought the girl across the street home but parked in from of Helen’s place. Karl came 5 or 10 minutes after I told lady what happened. A letter came from Mrs. Marquez today. She has been sick and was in bed 2 weeks.
I taken Karl inside washed his hands, fixed his lunch then we went up to take a nap. I read to him 2 stories. He was tired so we rested. The phone rang. Karl jumped up and ran down stairs to answer it. It was a lady telling about Claude’s Dr couldn’t see him Monday was 2:30pm then so we just stayed up. I swept the kitchen and moped it. Fixed what I could about the dinner – brought in my laundry and put it away. Must have been after 5pm before Helen came. She had trouble got locked out. Had to go next door. Called the lady she works for so could find the key. Then she was on her way to St Mary’s College. Was going to pick up Sonny when one of the wheels to her car went wrong she had to stop then hich hike to filling station to get a fellow to come and fix her wheel. Fellow said was good thing she wasn’t on the freeway when this happened or she might of got killed when Helen was all shook up when she got home and said she sure balled out the fellow a Als place who lined up her wheels last week. He didn’t do a good job. After dinner Helen put Karl down and we went to a movie but walked out cause it wasn’t any good. It was a nice day also a lovely evening. Sonny was home so he had some ice cream with us. Helen gone to bed. Claude and Sonny watching tv.

I was up and dressed waiting for Marjorie. She arrived 6:50am GG was up so was Debbie and Floyd. Mason was still in bed. Floyd was going to take the kids to school this morning. We left but got going the wrong way landed up in Alameda so had to turn back. Was 8am
Aug. 9/76
Stopped at GG. Had a nice Beef roast and veg also rice dinner then strawberries and ice cream. Dorothy and GG brought me over to Helen where I slept on cot. Was 2am before
