2/1/68 Helen taken Betty to Dr. so I had Karl fixed him for school. Lady called said would take Karl to school with her little boy. Karl wanted to go with this little fellow so bad Helen called see if lady has left hadn’t so Karl waited out in front, so was picked up but Helen brought him home.

M_______ came this after noon wanted to play with Karl Helen let him come in for a while I had made some Biscuits to go with the stew. Helen had left over from yesterday. Sonny had to be on a baby sitting job by 3 PM out near St. Marys College, so Helen picked up Better milk and 3 lb can Crisco. I don’t like to hurry at any thing but turned up heat and baked the biscuits browner than do Claude eat them but he likes then light and soft, not crisp like today. Helen and Sonny Karl and I liked them real well. Helen said she eat 3 with her tea this evening. I called in order at wards but not be picked up until tomorrow got call might didn’t have

The blanket or tea kettle. I called in nother order to night 4 bars for Helen, be picked up tomorrow hope they have them.

We had rain again to day don’t think Claude went out side even to day sleep until 11:am needs the rest as he seem to be coming down with a cold. Helen said Karl got up 8:am but she lay down for a while had get even had her breakfast when I went down stair.

The letter came to Day I was looking for Back to the Bible. Also letter from Hazel and my check. Hazel got the Box ok they have had snow since Dec 12^th was snowing Jan 27 when she was writing her letter.

Helen went out to one of her Clubs so I saw that Karl we get to bed, he said his pray to night he asleep now its 10 PM have my radio no the Family Program, its nice and cosey in my room to night I was up here early to night an they had dinner early.

2/2/68 This morning Helen taken Betty to the Dr. thought would be through in time to go over to Wards pick up order I had phoned in yesterday am, and 8:pm last night. Helen came home soon after sonny taken Karl to school by walking as his car was being fixed. Karl was real happy he could walk down with Sonny. Helen was surprised Karl walked. Helen grabbed some lunch, then she went over to pick up order at Wards.

Then picked up Karl. I was up in my room had just finished ironing some things for Karl. Helen put on a bra and briefs came and modeled them for me she was real pleased could get them before I went up to Dorothy as guess will be gon about 3 weeks. Helen said didn’t know would cost so much $14.77¢ for 6 prs. Briefs 4 bras but its ben year and half since she has bought any new bras don’t remember just how long since she bought any new brief. Michail came and played with Karl. Helen came ask if I would watch the boys while she went to taken

Sonny after his car at Als place when Helen came back she ask if I would cut up onion, celery, green pepper for her dish she was fixing for dinner to night. Said Sonny had to go baby sit pretty soon. Just when Sonny left for his job I don’t know, as I came up in my room rested a short-while then finished up a dress was fixing to send to Ruby. 10:15 PM back up in my room dishes don kitchen stratened box of papers. _______ seem to have so many boxs that food comes in they just litter up the kitchen some times. Helen put Karl to bed then we get her self as was tired said was going read a while. I heard on Family program to night about 6 Christian Alliance Missionary being killed in Viet Nam think this happened yesterday had a girl who going to college sounded like was in San Francisco now but she lived in Viet Nam. Knew the Missionary who was killed yesterday 6 years ago was some disepared ____ never have heard from them since don’t know if they are alive or not.

2/3/68 After had my Bible Study prayer Exercise bath and dressed went down tryed to get Jay on the phone. Got no answer. Around 12 noon I walked down over the hill stoped put in black and white print get taken Dec. 18/67 having 6 of each made up. Then walked over to Safeway store cashed my checks bought $7.49 groc. Helen was to pick me up by 1 PM she sent Karl in to tell me he was out in the parking lot. Waiting but for some reason I did not see him. Went out side finally started walking up the St. saw Helen car she waves at me. I saw Karl when got up to the car she ask if I saw him in the store, so she had to go after him we came home was 3 boy friends of Karl out in front to play. Karl couldn’t hardly waite to go out Helen said he had to eat some lunch first so he hurried gulped down something. I checked my groc. Put them away came up checked my cash had left then lay down rested read naped so on. Was nearly 6 PM.

When I finally went down stair Sonny already left for his baby sitting job. I fixed some cabbage and heated up rice. Also some applesauce Karl had a baked potato and apple sauce, Helen fixed her eggplant dish. After I had dinner did up the dishes came on back up in my room tryed after came from the store to get Jay again no luck was 8:pm or about that time Karl came up said Dorothy here she down stairs Karl went down told Dorothy I did get believe him so Dorothy came up we talked found out I had left my rain boots at her place. She brought them down other time but did get tell me was in her car. I sure was pleased over this as need them when go up to her place. Said have 2 feet of snow now Tommy didn’t want to come down unless he could go over in San Francisco. So he stayed home Jay and Dorothy going leave real early in morning Jay son his girl friend some other friends want to go up while the snow on the ground.

Dorothy came down last night she is going get married at the Church 12 noon Feb 22/68. Helen and GG is to stand up with her. Dorothy called Mrs Staley she said if could her and the girl would be up at the wedding. Also went to see Beth she was so pleased said she be right there. Elsie was not home Dorothy left a note under the door. Jay and Dorothy saw Chuck and family today. Baby seems cute growing it be 5 months old Feb. 6^th. Time flys by so fast.

Jay said would phone me next Sat Feb 10^th around 10:am would know if had to work or not they don’t know until Fri night when they get off work he come get Esther Sat. or Sunday. Dorothy phoned Catherene to night ask her to come she said would if she was able has a cold just now. Dorothy said she wrote her Aunt Myrtle, but didn’t get her Aunt Ollie yet so must hadn’t wrote his sisters Ruby and Nancy yet. Paul said he must go to this wedding.

Hope he can come up as didn’t go to any of Dorothy wedding Helen has stud up for 20, Dorothy the will be the third one, should be the charm they say.

Dorothy pleased over the family that renting her place. They go to same Church as Dorothy.

Well its 10:pm must go back down then do up dishes Claud has from fixing his dinner had ever thing else washed up before Dorothy and Jay left think was 9 PM then back up in my room will read a while before going to sleep. Still chilly.

2/4/68 Got up late did hear Radio Bible Class thou this morning. Yesterday came 2 Books from this program broadcast. One name is Broken things by Dr. DeHaan, other one Our Daily Bread Special Comfort Edition, its one of the old one by Dr. De Hann, I have ben wondering why was sent to me but now know I wrote about. My sister going Home Jan 2/68 to be with her Lord and this little Book also the other one has comfort for one who has sorrow over loosing a loved one in the family.

Helen said she was going over to see Linda as soon as Sonny came from mass which will be 1 PM ask if I would like to go along haven’t been in San Francisco since last Sept 14^th when we went to the clinic really don’t remember when was at Linda’s place. Just before we could get started Dorothy called wanted us to come over to Jays place. Stop at GG she or one of the kids would show us how to get up where Jay lived was 2: PM when we left Helen Sonny run in to city.

2/4/68 Out came GG and Debby Mason was in bed with a cold GG said Debby just getting over one. Debby went with us my we sure climbed up the hill lin back of GG one hill was really steep almost like in San Francisco Jay has a cute place only 2 bedroom thou and they are small just where Dorothy going put her things I don’t know she has so much room in her place of course she renting place with a lot of furniture in it her complete bed room suit both twin beds her frig. Stove as its built in one. Her heater also one big divan maybe 2 big big chairs, was 3:40 PM when we came back to GG dropped Debby off. Was 4:pm when we got up to Linda’s Helen had to let us off we walked way up a steep hill then Helen came after finding a parking place I was surprised to find Joe over at Linda. The baby sure growing he’s real cute little fellow I held him. Some also diapered him did he cry and how any one would think I was hurting him Linda and Helen taken Sonny and Karl down

to see the dragon so I was taking care of the baby Thanu brought in powder and clean diaper when Linda came back baby was fussing and crying I just finished putting on his out side pants, found out he always cry when he’s being changed. He was wanting his after noon lunch also. Linda taken him in bedroom lay down and nursed him that what she was doing when we left Kammy real cute little thing she loves her baby brother very much.

We got home think was 6:pm. Helen fixed dinner Sonny got his things ready to put in the car I gave him 8 T shirts 8 Briefs he seemed pleased said sure could use them. I never knew until found out by taking some of his trying them for size so happy nother box gon, be glad when can send out Ruby thing have for her soon as get one of the dresses fixed smaller, then will have 5 of them can send her along with a sweater. Other things for David some boys or Johnny may use also a house coat for Ruby.

2/5/68 Helen had to go to take Betty to Dr. also school, so Joe came picked Karl up he seems in hurry so taken Karl early, didn’t put on his rain coat hat or boots was cloudy but don’t think was going to rain had Karl were his new heavy jacket and cap. I made some corn bread Karl had some for his lunch also a meat patty and apple sauce I had crout and meat corn bread and apple sauce, washed out a few things ben trying to straten out and get 2 boxs ready to send out to Ruby finally finish a letter started yesterday to Myrtle. Stope to go with Helen over to see Jay place and did get feel like writing when got dishes don was kind tired so went to bed, ready a while been reading a chap. Ever night out of the old Bible. 4^th time going through it. See things never before that a grate help and comfort to one heart, mind and soul I don’t need any sleeping pills the Bible is my best pill to help me rest at night

2/6/68 I gave Helen Myrtle letter to mail this morning she also went and picked up the matters covers and pad at Wards. I finished the dress wanted to put in box for Ruby Helen said she would take me to the post office when I got boxs tyed up and addressed, so went but only there no other place. Helen was so happy over hers and Claude pillows they sure looked nice. She missed her ever so much she put old pillow case on them her new ones, that way Claude sister Dorothy does. I learned Aug/1966 when we stayed over night with them on way up to Canada to see Geneva in hospital.

Helen went to school to night but was back so soon. I had ever things ready when Claude came home that is all I could do until he got home let Helen finish up dinner had meat ready squash cooked coffee read to heat, was waiting to put potatoes on did up dishes came on up stair.

2/7/68 Helen taken Karl to school as she went over to San Francisco said her left arm bothered her last night. When Karl and Helen left I had something to eat then went down on Lake Shore to post office mailed letter out to Ruby let her know 2 boxs was coming so she could be looking for them in case of rain. I mailed out order for 4 more photo albums also sent for some books the Christian Jew Hour and Back to the Bible Broadcast. Stoped in Dime store bought 4 card of tape for Dorothy mattress cover corners also bought 3 scratch pads and 2 pen for writing and small can _____ yard of black elastic so can put new _____ on my Bible went to Health Store bought bottle soy oil and lady sold me box of soy p.o. but I will return if not what I want. Stoped at 88 ¢ store bought 2 night gowns $1.10 each one pink one blue also 2 photo albums. Came on home stoped talked to a lady on Lake shore who was out watching for a friend of hers the lady seem real nice

When I got home changed into work dress shoes hose so on, was up in my room when heard bill ring and ring was Karl Joe brought him home from school. Karl was real good change his school shirt and pants stayed inside. I would get let any of his friend come in Helen said could as they really made a mess yesterday. I told one of the boys why when he wanted come in or Karl come out, I made some cookies Karl and I eat a lot of them were real good, did up dishes fixed ever thing could for dinner until Helen and Claude got home Helen fixed salad I cut up celery and green peper for her also fryed potatoes for Claude. Came up in my room soon as dinner was ready and on the table never went back down until 10 PM was 11:pm when came back up in my room just had to catch up on my writing sure have left out something, but that OK, got my sheets washed ironed put away also few other things Hope can be all ready to go up to Dorothy Sat or Sun.

2/8/68 I went in a hurry this morning getting up or any thing as was Claude day home from work know he like to rest and sleep in Helen wasn’t going any place this morning, but before I had finished my exercise Helen came knocked on my door said she was going to the Dr. see what was rong with her shoulder it had pained the last 3 night so was hard to sleep. Helen said would be leaving soon. Dr. could see her if she came in right a way so I finished exercising then went down told Karl he could have Alen come play after I bathed and dressed when he did they played on up to 11:30. Karl had lunch but when Helen came he didn’t want to go to school she looked at him said well you better go any way so she hurried had him dressed taken him then went after Linda and the babys. Helen said Dr said she had calcium deposit on her shoulder reason was so painful she had to get some ____ at drug store so dropped me off taken Karl. Came back.

I hadn’t gotten my things yet thou but we finally did get waited on, came on home I cleaned up dishes came back up in my room got carpet sweper run it over front room rug, pick up some things off floor. Was out side shaking out dust mop when Linda and the babys came up side way I didn’t go down again until Linda was ready to go home. Helen taken her I had to see the baby thou he sure is a darling little fellow. Sonny came in time to see Rose and Harry, but I was tired out lay down read new Jan News Broadcaster came to day never read one before wanted to see what kind of Christian writing had in it know I like the Radio programs so very much that why sent for this paper. I must of dosed off as was 6:pm when I finally got up Kammy was at my door Helen said knock on Grandma door tell her good buy but she didn’t knock.

I went out saw she had on her coat knew they were leaving Helen taken them home but Karl stayed he didn’t want to thou. Helen wasn’t gone long Karl was asleep on his rocker when Helen came home. She walked him up stairs taken him to bath room he keeps saying wake me up when Mama gets home finally Helen just had to laugh then Karl looked up at her wide open eyes said when did you get back Helen said his eyes looked glassy before when he keep saying wake me up when Mama gets home. Was really funny. Sonny came in kitchen told me good buy Linda said might see me up at Dorothys place. Helen said she talked to Sharin, so if weather got to bad guess Linda will go up with Helen Feb 22^nd, the day of Jays and Dorothy Wedding. Dorothy called to night she may have dresses for Helen and ___ for the wedding

Jay will bring them down so girls can try them on. Dorothy also said Myrtle coming up hope she makes it OK. She phoned Dorothy GG and my Booklets came this morning from Radio Bible Class also letter from Louise Birch and nice long letter from Phyllis Crockett lady met up in Washington last Oct. who husband Bud knew my Dad used to work for him years ago. We had such short time to talk that day thou.

Well dishes are don I was up in my room by 9:pm which surprised me little by little I am getting ready to go up to Dorothy with Jay either Sat or Sunday will be a lot easer on him if he goes Sat, have a chance to rest then but wo get know until Fri night if have to work Sat. said would call me 10:am one way or other Helen said she would try be home by 12 noon Sat. Just in case Jay is going up Sat.

2/9/68 Helen worked to midnight today so I was up had bed made Bible and prays also exercise

and dress downstairs before Helen left for work had some hand laundry to do got it don kitch floor moped made a Choc. Cake Helen had some sour cream needed to be used up reason fixed a Choc. Cake the old butter or cream don’t tast choc. Seems to cover up for some reason.

I was going down on Lake shore when Helen came I said she could pick me up later but was kind of tired so taken her up when she said would drive me down I wanted stop in 5 and 10¢ store buy Karl some black shoe string also a thimble that would stay on my finger have 3 but all seem so big allway droping off when I am sowing I also stop in Luckys bought some Groc. Came home Helen fixed her veg dish she needed some _____ _____ which I bought for her. Joe came at noon takes Karl to school he was already I gave Joe

2/9/68-2- the bottle had cleaned up could get find Mon. when he taken Karl to school for seem pleased to get this nice Bottle put his juice in Fri. would of ben through out if had get fixed it for him.

I mailed GG booklets out to her while down on Lake Shore was kind of funny as she called me before noon she wanted to know Sally and ____ ____ street and home no which I gave her. Dorothy said Floyd could use the ______ but was at Saley place. I got letter wrote to Ollie and Mrs. Staley, but didn’t get them mailed as Helen was in a hurry when she left. GG said Paul and stoped by about 2 days ago didn’t know if he was coming up to Dorothy and Jay Wedding or not but they could get together wouldn’t need so many card Paul could ride up with Helen as she coming back same day if Sonny and Linda did get come up Helen would have plenty of room GG could come up with Jay ride back with Helen.

2/10/68 I got up early as knew Helen would be leaving about 9 am wanted to be ready so was on the job OK. Had my breakfast did up dishes packed ever thing could until knew for sure Jay was coming to pick me up he never phoned until 11AM I got some boxs to bring up Jay came before I was dressed as couldn’t get bath before Helen came home and she hadn’t been in but a few minutes when Jay drove up in his Jep. Helen helped bring down suit case and boxs I was bringing some Jello, can fruit, baby food, peas & bread, Ry Crisp. Stoped at Luckys Jay mailed my letters to Ollie and Mrs Staley while I went in store bought lettuce bananas facial tissue large can pork and beans, Jello forgot cottage cheese was 2: PM when we really was on our way only stop for gas once on way up we saw some snow by side of Hi way when got up pine grove even a little by the Church also on up to Dorothy in shady places sure went so fast.

Was 4:30 PM when we arrived up in Dorothy front yard she saw us come out then Tom came we all carried in things was really chilly out side but nice and warm in the house think Tom getting kind of home sick Dorothy had the place in a mess been packing things as people hope to move in March 2^nd. Dorothy fixed taters or what ever you call them any way sure good I had 4 of them. Should not of eat any thou she for got tomatoes so fixed them with out. I cleaned up the mess she had of dishes before dinner also after dinner that some thing I can do most any place if people will let me.

Dorothy still has folding bed in her room so have my suit case and other things on the bed put dresses and coat in her closet, shoes under small bed, also bed room slipers. Dorothy trimed my hair and put it up on bobby pins sure needed to be trimed, was about 12:30 when I went to bed.

2/11/68 We slep in so late didn’t get go to Sunday school but did for Church Tom didn’t want get up Dorothy ask him but he said wanted to sleep she doesn’t push him in doing any thing he gets up for school real good. Dorothy said we had a good messag this morning Luke 19 Chapter 1^st - 10 about Zacccharus, the Church was full which was really wonderful seeing people out to hear the Word of God and sing the Christian songs have prayer fellow ship in God House then speak and talk when Church was over Mrs. Taylor seem happy to see me also Mrs. Church some others. We stoped at store in Pioneer Dorothy got some milk payed a bill I got some cottage cheese. Came on home Dorothy fixed waffles sauges eggs Jay Tom and Dorothy eat I had some bananas and rice check before going to Church was to soon to eat again Mr. Wilson came down talked a while.

2/11/68 I showed him the pictures we taken on our trip last Oct. Also showed Jay the pictures Dorothy and Jay wanted to stop at the pastors on way down to Jay so they left 3:30 p.m. Think was I did up all the dishes after they left also had some beef roast lettuce coffee my kind some of Dorothy left over waffles, Jello and cookies, was finished in kitchen was down on the floor looking for the Jan and Feb. National Geographic Mag when the phone ranged Tom answered was Dorothy she was still at Mr. And Mrs Church place forgot to tell me about mess. Coming Tue Feb. 13^th put in Bathroom Sink. She said if Curly was get with them have man call him. Talked to Tom wanted him move some wood as have to put tank where wood is now. Tom said OK he had something to eat we talked a while then I cam in bed room want to read a while. Tom has Radio on so though best come in shut the door to read.

2/12/68 I slep in late did get up 8: am but went back to bed read my Bible and Daily Bread Booklet, had prayer went back to sleep as Tom was in bed a sleep was nice and quiet no T.V. or Radio on Tom has them both on same time, or he is playing his guitar or his harmonica which I don’t mind if they are not to loud most of the time Tom sits watches T.V. and rocks he seem to get something out of this know he has rocked in his own rocker since he was 4 year old and Hazel his mother said he don this ever since he could climb out of his crib also he loved to hear musical instrument. Tom hope to go to some college where he can study music would be wonderful if he dos this.

Mrs. Pear Taylor called this evening wanted me to tell Dorothy the Church was putting on the dinner Sat. 6:30 not Mary and Martha Society Lady at the Telephone Company called wanted to know if our phone was working OK. I said Sat night was something rong but seem OK now. Tom and both went to bed 10:pm as he had to be up 6:am for school ben kind lonely today with Dorothy gon.

2/13/68 Tom ‘larm went off clock in Dorothy bed room so I let it ring until Tom came shut it off as he told me that what he been doing thought he was going to school so did get look out or any thing just had my Bible reading prayer also Our Daily Bread, study, did my exercise taken a bath and shower to get sope off. Was 8:AM Tom was still setting in front room said missed the bus. Dorothy neighbor called ask if Tom was sick with a cold she didn’t see him get on the school bus. She said it came 7:55 which is time ever morning Tom said was early he saw it but not in time for him to be on it. I guess said he most of time has to waite for the bus. Rained last night must of been a very quiet rain as I didn’t hear it at all but could see the ground was wet also back deck. I fixed the cabbage I had brought, had also some beef _____ fruit bread my coffee ___ on bean Tom sowed the bone so would fit in kettle ham bone has some meat on it thou.

2/13/68 Around 2:pm Tom went down to pioneer walking I give hin Nancy letter was I surprised when Tom was back so soon he said got ride down also back he bought ½ gallon milk wasn’t any mail but Better Home Magazine. Around 5:pm I had some beans with ham and cream cheese on Rye Bread. My coffee also lettuce. Tom said he didn’t want any beans or beef had cookies and 2 bananas. Dorothy right Tom don’t eat much. He never will be fat if he keep this up he was a husky little fellow thou at 4 years when I first saw him. Guess Dorothy not coming back to night the Hemingway boy called ask for Dorothy when I said she wasn’t home he ask if Tom was here I called him to the phone. I don’t know what this boy wanted Dorothy for as he did get say. I watched a T.V. program name was my Dad and Mother Tom went to bed 10/PM but did get turn off his light until 10:30 or 11: PM was reading ask if could turn down the T.V. I said OK. I went to bed read a while.

2/14/68 I was up about 7:AM as the alarm went off 6:AM Tom came out of his room got dressed and had his breakfast went down to get school bus went on to school to day I had my Bible study and prayer exercise bath and dressed early had about 5 or 6 phone calls for Dorothy to day and yesterday. Wrote them down so she could read them. I hoped Dorothy didn’t home before 5:30 p.m., Tom went out helped her bring things in she brought her Wedding dress, said had it altered some Dorothy saw GG and Helen they can use the dresses given Helen must of came over as Karl came up to Jay said here we are but O’Dell didn’t know him as he wasn’t home when we was at Jay Feb. 4^th Dorothy stayed at chuck last night came on up this after noon from Chucks place.

2/14/68 Went to Church to night was so very interesting hearing about the differe get medicines of the Bible. Dr. MacKay had 160 bottles with him to night wasn’t many out to night. So glad went didn’t near finish his talk thou.

We came home Dorothy wanted tea kettle put on had a hot drink we both undressed I did up dishes had some special K and Banana with soy milk came on in bed room now shall go to bed as its 10:40 PM..

We had rain to day sure cold out side Joan called she just got back from her sister in San Leandro ben gon 7 days seen Dr. as one here didn’t do her any good. She OK now said I only put wood in stove 2 time all day as Tom had it filled up before he left for school good thing I like to read would of been lots more lonely here that was I had Dorothy Radio on or T.V. when was get reading so time went faster.

2/15/68

Dorothy and I went down to the Church in Pine Grove. Mary and Martha Society started 1:30 p.m. with some ladies already at Church in the Fellowship Hall when Dorothy and I arrived. Dorothy picked up one of the ladies in front of her place. Also, lady was out on highway waiting so could send down something for the Sat. night dinner. Dorothy was driving Jay car so this lady didn’t know Dorothy but Janet Shafer remembered was to stop and told Dorothy in time to pick up the bag for the Church. Must have been 45 or 50 ladies out this afternoon. Pearl Taylor read a p______ She wrote for Dorothy which we all had a laugh out of. What a surprise when we saw a 3 tier wedding cake that was served along with coffee and tea. Had colored slides. Pearl Taylor said we are all

going with Dorothy on her honeymoon. We want to l_____ h____ and ______. Pearl Taylor had a new _______. Said she had any trouble but did keep showing some slides three times she had to have light turned on about 3 times. Dorothy said ________ ________ maybe just too many of us on my honeymoon. This got a laugh. We all had a wonderful time. We stopped at Ethel F____ on way home. Dorothy showed her top of wedding cake. Also let her read the p.o. _______ Pearl Taylor wrote Ethel, showed it to her husband, he thought was real good. We told about the honeymoon trip by colored slides. Ethel said would loved to have been with us but she’s not able, is going in the hospital for operation Tue. We also stopped at JoAnns, showed her wedding cake top.

Told about the afternoon at Mary and Martha. Dorothy phoned Tom told we were ___ but would be home later. He could go ahead fix himself something to eat. We went in ______ when we taken her home. She had a veil thought Dorothy might use, but Dorothy said she has one thinks will be OK for the wedding.

We finally got back home. Dorothy fixed t.v. dinner but I didn’t want any. Fixed my own eats.

Dorothy taken Tom to school as the ‘larm didn’t go off. Was raining so Jay car would go sliding all over the muddy road, so Dorothy used her own car, the station wagon. It has snow tires. Dorothy said was going do some shopping but store wasn’t open until 9 AM. Wouldn’t stay until they opened.

2/16/68

Dorothy said Tom was bringing home a boy friend. The were going to play and sing. Dorothy fixed a good dinner, beef, spareribs, gravy, potatoes, green peas, salad. Also an egg custard. First time since Sat. night Feb. 10^th that I had set down and eaten with Tom and Dorothy but really enjoyed that dinner. Dorothy taken the boy down to Mrs. Jenette Shaffers. Wanted me to come along but was raining so I didn’t go. Did up the dishes, cleaned up the kitchen, was watching t.v. when they came home 10:20 p.m. think was. This boy named Jerry. Think he younger than Tom. They stayed up late, played their guitars. I went on to bed. Dorothy finally came but first she made a cake for the dinner at the Church. Think was 2 a.m. when Dorothy finally went to sleep.

2/17/68

Dorothy was packing all a.m. thought she had packed Fri. most of the day. Was looking for Jay and O’Dell and Floyd unless he went to work. Dorothy taken Tom and Jerry down to Jenetts Shafers so they could play. Said would phone when was ready to come back. Think was 1:30 p.m. when Dorothy had looked up, said here come Jay and Jerry. __________ Dorothy had made a big batch cookies. I cleaned up kitchen for her. She was cooling cookies on diningroom table when boys came. GG, Jason and Debby was along with Floyd. O’Dell was with Jay. It was raining. Dorothy run out. I looked out but didn’t go out in the rain. They even brought the dog. Duck O’Dell brought his motor bike which Tom and Jason was happy over. Jay brought up his dining table, divan, big rocker and ‘nother chair. Misunderstood Dorothy and brought his end tables, but said could take them back o.k. I was pleased to see Floyd.

looking so good. GG and children happy. I was surprised when Floyd ate some cookies. Said they were real good. The cookies went fast. No kidding. This pleased Dorothy. She likes see people eat what she fixes. The fellows unloaded the trailer one only had O’Dell motor bike in it. Floyd taken the washer dryer and deep freezer along with a lot of other thing. Mason stayed here but Debby went on back with Dad and Mother. O’Dell taken the boy up 88 highway on the motor bike. All 3 of them went. They knew we were going down to the Church dinner 6:30 p.m. Boys finally came home. O’Dell had to bath and shave, dress, but he didn’t shave off his beard. Said wasn’t until after his Dad and Dorothy got married. Tom and Mason didn’t want to go with us but O’Dell went. Was lots of people already eating when we arrived. Paid for the dinners, Jay did. I give $2.00 as knew would go on the building fund.

We didn’t have to wait long to get a table where we could all sit down together. Had turkey, dressing mixed veg. potatoes, cranberry sauce, punch, tea, coffee, plenty of Jello salads, different cakes. We saw Dorothy cake, even got to eat some but never even used the Jello salad Dorothy brought. She came back with it. We could of brought some food back, but didn’t as the freezer is gone. Dorothy had two chicken must use up. We all had a good time. Got to visit with some of the people. Mr. Keer came over and spoke to me and other people also. We met one lady who was brought up here. Mrs. Hopkins. Hadn’t seen her since she was 8 year old. This lady husband died 11 years ago and she married. We met her husband, seemed like a nice friendly man.

Some of the folks was going to the Kit Carson Mountains men auction only. Have once a year. Whatever more they take in goes to the club.

O’Dell say we didn’t care to go but would. Dorothy said you drive. We went in her car, so O’Dell drove Dorothy and Jay sat in back. We saw lots car parked. Even had to have man show where to park. We could hear the auctioneer rattling off as he was selling the different things. We couldn’t hardly get in. Never got a seat for a long time but think O’Dell _______ much fun out this auction as anyone. We stayed until it was after 11 p.m. then we got up to go ever one else came out same time. Of all the things they sold, some nice, others cheap. Was old washing machine, wooden one, hand turned with wringer just about like my folks had also. Roy _____ years ago. Think it sold for $5. Had a lot of old saddles and old single ______, old wheels, old lanterns, old picture frames, old dishes, pot and pans, books, bottles, what have you. All horse collars, blinders. We laughed at some things, old Victrola O’Dell wanted but not at the price they went for.

The boy was up, had ________. Was surprised we came in so late. They did eat bean. ______ said they could go with us and have turkey dinner or stay home, eat beans. Dorothy fixed dinner for Mason one of the folding cots for O’Dell. They didn’t go to bed until was 2 a.m. Dorothy came in bedroom then just before the boys settled down.

2/22/68

Paul called talked to Chuck first then Dorothy and I. He couldn’t come up because had worked only, had about 2 hours sleep. Ask about how Dorothy wedding turned out, what color her dress was. I told him. Myrtle talked to Paul also he wanted Myrtle stop on way back home but she looked up on map, would be out of her way, but said might stop in Fresno at Everett’s place as she going down in land like came up Feb. 20^th.

2/18/68

I got ready to go to Church but Dorothy couldn’t take me. She called Mr. Glades Brown. She was going but not Curley. He wasn’t feeling good. Dorothy taken me down to Mrs. Brown’s. She was cleaning or sweeping her gr______. She taken me to Church. We had a nice lunch out. Also was about 10 people taken in the Church. Some was coming from other Churches in town, some by ________. Some people ask Dorothy why she wasn’t out. Mr. Brown brought me back to her place. She called Dorothy. She came picked me up. Jay O’Dell and Mason were getting ready to go. Had the jeep and trailer loaded up, taking off soon. We watched them pull out. The boys had gone for a ride on O’Dell motor bike. Dorothy give the boy a scolding for riding down on the highway in town.

Dorothy had fryed chicken for lunch before the fellow left with the load of furniture. I got something to eat and did up the dishes while Dorothy and Tom fixed the furniture around. Tom carried from family room. Now the place is _________ real nice. Look kind strange not seeing all of Dorothy things ________. Tom went to sleep in big chair then got up, laid down on his bed, went to sleep. Dorothy watching t.v. I have been trying to catch up on writing when _____ here at Dorothy.

2/19/68

Dorothy and I went down to Jackson as Dorothy had to take top of wedding cake or piece to sit on top over to bakery that where we went first, then to Pauline Thompson. We stayed there a while, talked. Dorothy bought a shirt then we went across street. Dorothy bought a shirt, something else. We also went to the hardware store. I bought a set of kitchen tools. Strainer, spatula, pan cake turner, spoon with open spaces, ladle. They are small which is so hard to find. We went to a café, had something to eat. We had a table. Was near finished when a fellow came in, said hello Dorothy. She spoke but didn’t know just who this fellow was. Turned out was Bob Weiland. He came down to find his brother as the mother was getting worse, may pass away just any time. Bob had put Freda on jet in LA flying down to Los Angeles. She seen her mother Dorothy as Bob come up if he had time. He remembered Dorothy married name Wilson but he said was getting married again this Thurs. Feb. 22. She told her him what her name would be then, Koker. He said it will remember it as coal.

2/19/68

I didn’t know Bob at first, knew had seen him, though. Thought was in Concord some friend of Dorothy and Richards. We went and did some shopping at Safeway. Big cart full. Came to over $14. Dorothy met lady in store, talked awhile. We were late getting home and had to come through window. We forgot to give him a key. Wasn’t anyone at Church so had to bring all of the things to the house. Tom came out helped bring everything in. Said Dorothy fixed something to eat. I did up dishes. We watched t.v. awhile. Went to bed. Frank Wilson loaned Dorothy his ‘larm clock so Tom would not miss bus.

2/20/68

Dorothy laid down, went to sleep after Tom left. We had both ‘larm go off only one was 5 minutes later. I stayed in bed until about 9 a.m., read my Bible and Our Daily Bread book, got up, did m y exercise, had prayer, waited until Dorothy could cut my hair for me. Then I shampooed my hair but she was going down to LA and Etts Shaffers so didn’t pin my hair up. Bob and Beth Wilson, David and two grandchildren was up at Dad Wilson’s place. The boy came down before Dorothy left. I was in kitchen just finishing up eating when someone came to back door, called anyone home? Was Myrtle. She had her sweater over her head and I didn’t know her until she laughed. She left home 5 a.m., got here 12:30 p.m. Passed place, pulled back saw Beth boy David. He said Dorothy and I home but there where she lives. They said you must past Dorothy as she just left. Think was 1:30 when Dorothy came home.

Bob and Beth was out on deck in front looking at the love seat Dorothy give them. I call Bob and Beth in ______ Myrtle. We were talking when Dorothy arrived. She heard that Myrtle had been at gas station the way to Dorothy place from Pioneer, so wasn’t a surprise to Dorothy but she didn’t think Myrtle would drive all way from Orange in one day. We talked. Bob and Beth taken love seat _______ taken back off which Dorothy was glad they could. Myrtle and Dorothy had something to eat visited awhile. Mr. Wilson had some soup. Give Dorothy which Tom eat when he came home. Dorothy was packing out in family room now. At 6 p.m. nearly ever room a mess thou Myrtle like Dorothy place real well. We got the bed cleaned off so can have place to sleep.

2/21/68

We slept in the AM. I heard Tom get up when ‘larm went off. Dorothy slept in on couch in front room most of the night. After Tom left for school Dorothy lay down, rested awhile. She had a lot of things packed. Straightened out no one else could do but Dorothy. She taken one of her neighbors box of toys and other things. Then later Dorothy and Myrtle went to ‘nother neighbor that had a wedding gift. One was a prayer towel holder he hade hisself which Dorothy was so pleased with. Mr. and Mrs. _______ could come to the wedding as his mother was real sick. Had to go to the hospital so they were leaving for Los Gatos. Reason wanted Dorothy come over, get the gift they had for her. We stayed up, watched t.v. until 10:30 p.m. Dorothy said Mother I am so excited, will stay in the front room.

2/21/68

Chuck and _____ came without the babies his first time I guess without the babies being with them. They said didn’t want to eat. They had coffee. Dorothy fixed a salad and shrimp for dinner. Tom liked them. Guess Myrtle did too as I already eat my dinner. After dinner Dorothy fixed some cookies. We eat them as fast as could. Taken out of the oven and cooled. Myrtle _____ Dorothy. Also I went to Church as we wanted to hear about the different _______ of the Bible. We got the general and other things so taken down at Church, left in car though as we would of been late. Dorothy picked up one lady on way down, also brought her back home. She wanted to take care of _________ the serving at ______ tomorrow after the wedding. Whenwe got home Elaine had dishes all washed, kitchen straightened up.

2/22/68

M_____, Myrtle and I got up about 7 or 7:30 a.m., got dressed, all but our dresses then waited for rest to wake up. Think was about 10:30 a.m. when O’Dell came with GG, Debbie and O’Dell friend. Then on things were popping. GG got dressed. Dorothy, Myrtle and finished also Elaine had come. GG sure looked sweet. Helen wasn’t here so rest went on down as Pastor said he at the Church by 11 a.m. Helen got here. She hurried, dressed Linda came with her baby also _____ nephew. Helen had Karl but didn’t take time to change his clothes. I didn’t notice Karl had on his old play jacket until got down to the Church. Was out of the car. Helen had go on in at wedding. Was 12 noon. We saw Sally and Howard but not John or Neda _________. I don’t know just how many people came out but ever thing went along real well. When song I Love You Truly was signing I nearly cried. Chuck said don’t cry Grandma.

Helen wanted to follow the car Jay and Dorothy was in after the recipient had _______ fellowship hall right after the wedding, so Helen did ___ not right behind. Was two cars in between. They were honking horns just like Helen. We got up in front of Frank Wilson place. Let Linda and baby out with nephew then went on back after. Had dish at Mrs. Shaffer place. _____ she not off 88 highway. Route from Pine Grove was off ‘nother road in back old bar. We asked at Church. They told us where to go and no one was home. Dogs barked. I finally tried door, called, couldn’t see anyone but could smell beans. Come back road should have taken in first place. Got back as Linda and Elaine and someone had brought the bean and salad. They _____. Mrs. Shaffer was here. Everyone waited for us. Ask bless on the food and then they started dishing up food which went fast. Helen taken the boy up to the snow, so did Jay and Tom went I think or Tom went with Helen.

John and Neta was here they was too late for the wedding thou. Was 4 p.m. when Jay and Dorothy left on short honeymoon. Was about 5p.m. when Helen, Linda, her baby nephew Tom went with him. Of course, Karl, although he wanted to go home with Chuck and Elaine. So was only Myrtle and her now. We cleaned up after everyone was gone. Then Myrtle lay down, went to sleep. I fixed some Jello, got ready for bed. Been watching t.v., Cinderella show. Also brought in some wood. Helen brought up my mail. Was 2 cards Valentine ones from Paul children. Other from Paul and Marjorie. Other was books from Back to the Bible. I sent down 4 boxes or packages with Helen when she left for home. Myrtle and I have been talking tonight. Seems so quiet here now with Tom and Dorothy gone but it’s not raining. Hope clears up for a few days. 11:30 p.m. night now.

2/23/68

We didn’t get up early. No one here but Myrtle and I. When we did finally did get up sat around, talked. Was around 10:30 before I bathed and dressed. About 11 before I had anything to eat. We had nice warm house as keep wood in heater. Rained some today, also sun came out a few times. Seems to warm up outside. I fixed frozen peas, carrots then put chicken dumpling Frank Wilson brought down other day. Think was Wed. the 21^st when Beth and Bob was up at his dad’s place. Also Frank Wilson brought down some buns. We warmed them up and had with our veg. dish. Was real good. Also some bananas and Jello. Myrtle been drinking the coffee that was left over from yesterday, then cleaned out the coffee maker. It’s a large one. Belonged to Mrs. Roberts. Don’t know if we are to take it back or not until Dorothy come home from her short honeymoon trip.

Myrtle and both been lazy today. We read a while, nap a while, talk a while, didn’t have on the t.v. until about 9 p.m. Turned it off 11:15 p.m. Never had radio on all day. Myrtle been trying to finish reading a book of Dorothy before she goes back home. Likes it so, well hopes can buy some for her granddaughter when she goes back home. Mr. Frank Wilson came down about 6 p.m. brought the Readers Digest March 68 one for Tom so he said also Amador Progress News. Wilson talked a while. We laughed over Myrtle Mr. Blues when told about her driving up by her self from Orange and Dorothy giving me a long envelope. Said go give this to O’Dell, Jay son he will need it for the pastor. When I handed it to O’Dell he ask me what it was. I said the marriage. O’Dell said where a match so I can burn them. He’s a great joker

but put the envelope in his pocket so when got to the Church O’Dell handed this to Rev. Henry Church so he could fill it out and when he opened it up was some kind of insurance but Myrtle said Dorothy looked and found the right envelope ok for Rev. Church, but did we get a big laugh out of this. Only did as Dorothy ask. Didn’t have on my glasses so never noticed what was on outside of envelope or inside neither did O’Dell.

I have keep the heater going all day and hope will go through the night so will be warm for us in morning.

Myrtle give me some ointment salve medicine for my wrist where it been inflamed and paining me a lot last few days. Myrtle said put this on tonight so will althou not been so bad today.

2/24/68 We didn’t sleep in late this a.m. like yesterday or Sunday. Was shining so pretty. We had our breakfast. Myrtle did some ironing for Dorothy she had left but then Myrtle had to clean the iron before she could use it. Good we read awhile napped some. The most work I did was dishes and keeping the heater going day and night picking up paper bringing them. Myrtle ask me if we had any ____ brown sugar, nots so on. She wanted to make a cake. She wrote a letter, went up to see if Frank Wilson was home but he had gone so she walked around his place. Came back. We went down to Pioneer bought some pineapple, nuts, brown sugar and eggs, also milk, can veg. for salad. Then Myrtle mailed her letter. Came on back and made the cake. We keep looking for O’Dell on up to 5: p.m. Myrtle had gone in kitchen to fix the salad had egg and tuna also veg. salad. W armed up beans when here come Jay and Dorothy.

so we sat, talked but they had eat so much on way but did have little salad then cake and Jdello and coffee. I did up dishes we found out O’Dell wouldn’t be up until tomorrow after some furniture. Will also bring some up from Jay. We check was between 50 - 60 people at Church. Some didn’t sign guest book. Also, some didn’t stay for the reception. About 28 or 30 came on up to the house. Think was about 14 or 15 gifts from friend and family. Card came today from Louisiana was from Hampie Davie and Ruby. Oll on one card. Was mailed Feb. 20^th. Myrtle said she was leaving in morning earlly if was clear no fog or rain. Its time for Bed. Jay and Dorothy will up Myrtle in bed already.

2/25/68

Jay, Dorothy and I went to Church. I called Mrs. Brown, told her if she didn’t see me out by the road waiting I was going with Dorothy. Was kind funny thou as wasn’t long until we noticed Mr. and Mrs. Brown car right in front of us. Guess Jay drives faster than Brown does. Reason we caught up with them. Was good bunch out for Church. Pastor message was taken from 10 Chap. Of Samuel. Reading was from 119 _____ 169-176. Jim Welsh and Kent Roberts gave an organ and piano duet. We came out and just got to Pioneer. Jay and Dorothy in the store bought some buns potato chips, hamburger. When some one honked horn I didn’t look to see who it was until keep on honking. Was O’Dell with his dad Jep he had _______. Tom Mason and ‘nother boy was with O’Dell also Duke the dog. Jay thought O’Dell didn’t bring the bed room suit but he had it ok.

Myrtle left this morning about 9:15 a.m. We walked up to where she had the car parked in front of Frank Wilson place. Myrtle went on home. Should have made it by 4 or 5 p.m. Only taken her 7 hours to drive up. She only stopped 2 times for gas she said.

May stop in Fresno on way back thou as Everett lives there. She and Ollie stopped July 1965. Aron and Everett was happy they did then. Dorothy fixed some hamburger, also tuna burgers, potato chips, pickles, salad. Boy eat then finished packing the trailer. Put Dorothy bedroom suit in. Also a lot of other things. Bob O’Dell keep saying give me more boxes Dorothy. He sure can put a lot in the trailer. O’Dell left as soon as Mason and Tom came back, then went for a walk.

Lady next door came over. Talked awhile. Also, 2 more friends came with their family in car and truck. I gave Doris McKay one books came from _____ Bible Program. Helen brought them up Thur. 2/22/68. The other friend taking the 3 piece red set. Also love seat that Dorothy gave to Chuck and Elaine. Was 4:30 p.m. when Jay and Dorothy left with Jay car loaded down. Kind of lonely with no one here but Tom and I. He watch t.v. sitting in Jay big chair, went to sleep. I didn’t bother him. Fixed the bedroom nice. It looks real good and lots of room now as O’Dell suit only had 3 pieces. I cleaned up kitchen, made some Jello. Tom wake up, eat something, it was going up on look out point to play pool. Fellow came in truck picked him up and he was back before 9 p.m. Was 7 when

he left. Came back wanted fix something but I thought was so late, so gave him some cake and punch. He went and put more wood in heater then said good night. Sat in his room, played his guitar. He has to get up 6 a.m. be ready for school bus 7 a.m. Been a lonely day. Hope stays nice this week. Also man come put in butane tank. Really miss Myrtle tonight. They taken the folding bed Dorothy said GG could have it. Also taken both folding cots. I hung up the snow paintings. Beth Wilson gave Dorothy. Looks real nice in the bedroom. Kind of cheer the room up so its not so lonely tonight with no one in it but me.

The ‘larm went off 6 a.m. Tom got up turned it off then got ready for school. I saw Tom going down to highway saw a bus stop but couldn’t see Tom getting on from where I was in bedroom. I read my daily bread booklet. Was on Heb. 11:31-40 also Heb. 12:2. I wanted wash out my undies and nighty also house coat, hose so could get dry. I went down when men came to put in butane tank. I left back door unlocked so could come in if I shouldn’t be where they could get hold of me, but I got some exercise in, bath and dressed before. Had to see what the men wanted to know was Dorothy new address and name. Also where the hot water tank was. I showed them. The head man called the lady who moving in let her know would have to pay $25.00 deposit on the meter but would get this back when they moved or go on the bill. The head man left long before the other one. He finished and give me a bill made out to Jay Coker. Guess that ok as he is married to

We had sunshine all day long, nearly like spring. My laundry got dry and I ironed things that needed it, put them away.

I had the left over peas, carrots and chicken gravy, lettuce salad and Jello and cake, my coffee. Fixed some rice krispies with peanut butter, cracked some nuts put them up to eat with candy when felt like it.

Tom had the left over sp. had milk and Jello cake later he made some dip and potato chips. Joann called. She was surprised when I told her Dorothy and Jay come back Sat. night 5 p.m. then went down to Jay Sunday 4:30 p.m. O’Dell came up with his bedroom suit. Dorothy was taken down along with a lot of other things. Tom wrote 4 post cards, got 4- 5¢ stamps off me. He said wouldn’t be home until around 6 or 6:30 p.m. tomorrow evening. Going with Jerry, guy who stayed over night.

2/27/68

Tom got up when ‘larm went off 6 a.m. and got bus 7:5. I got up made up my bed, had my Bible reading and prayer, exercise, bath, shower, dressed, fixed my breakfast. Fixed some custard, washed out my exercise briefs mopped the bedroom floor, cleaned ashes off around the heater. Watched t.v. a while. Did up the dishes. Tried to call some of Dorothy neighbors. No one seemed to be home. Such a beautiful day, guess they went some place. I stripped bed in family room then sewed tape on mattress pad, put mattress cover on then new pad. Made up bed again. Called lady who rented Dorothy place. She said Mrs. Church had called, asked Neda Farres if she would pick me up Wed. so I was so grateful for a ride to the Church Wed. night. I called Lynette Shaffer, she just got in. She couldn’t take me to Church but told me to call ‘nother lady.

I didn’t know where Mr. Farres said she would be. She would be by after _____ called for and told her had a ride, also that Jay and Dorothy come back Sat. 5: p.m. She said she thought they were going away for longer than one night. Lady called about putting Dorothy and Jay Coker wedding in paper but I forgot to tell her who played the organ and who sang I Love You Truly, so I called her this evening, was too late to put this in as had to be in by noon today. I called the neighbor below Dorothy and _______ coming down on side in back. She gave me name of lady right in back of Dorothy by Buckhorne Road. It’s ok Bow Road that in front of Frank Wilson place. Just found that out after coming up here to visit past 5 years. No 88 highway goes through Pioneer. Tom came home after school. I was surprised and glad as I fixed

us some dinner. Cole slaw, french fryed potatoes, hamburger. We had punch left over from Sunday. I made some custard. We had pickles. Tom likes mustard and ket. Tom thanked me for dinner, seemed to enjoy it. I had been trying to use up things that been ______ that were frozen.

I have family program on radio. Heard report on 6 missionaries that were killed in Viet Nam. Give the details about how they were really killed was some Christian natives also were killed at same time.

‘Larm clock went off clock was 10 m. fast. Good thing I didn’t go back to sleep as Tom didn’t come in and shut ‘larm off. He found out last two mornings would ring a while then stop, so I called him, he said yes I heard the ‘larm clock ok but guess must have dropped off asleep again. He got showered, got something to eat ten put on record player until 7 a.m. I called to him, said Tom it’s time to go down to highway so won’t miss the bus. He didn’t get down in _____ soon. I got up and made my bed after reading my Bible. Also Daily Bread. Did my exercise, shower, dressed. Time flys by so fast by time had breakfast, fixed some peanut butter balls, fixed food for Tom dinner. Carolyn Weldon called asked if I needed anything from Pioneer Store. I said you could bring up some boxes which she did. Said could get some more tomorrow. I showed her the bedroom also front room.

Jay front room suit also. O’Dell bedroom suit. Carolyn had her twins with her. They want to know if I had candy and some book or play thing. I gave them some ball I made. One liked them, other didn’t, but Carolyn take anyway, said her boy would eat it. I taken ever thing off the diningroom table, cleared it off good, then fixed the bed pad. Watched t.v. while I worked. Tom came in from school. I fixed him some food. He then went over to a boyfriend named John. Taken Mrs. Roberts coffee maker and cake pan. I called first see if anyone was home. Neva Garrett came after me like she said would but Tom wasn’t home. He called said would be home soon. Came as I was getting in the car. I was really glad he showed up before we pulled out. I had t.v. on, also both porch light and light in kitchen and front room. I found out Neva was from Fresno. Lived there 15 years.

We had a nice talk about Fresno on way to Church. I taken Mrs. Church one of book with Christian songs but they were already starting when we came in. So didn’t get to speak to her about it. She thought I wanted her to read it. I said I give it to you. She said oh, thanks.

The talk tonight wasn’t much different than I had heard before. I got up before Tom went to school. He run down put my letter to Myrtle in Carolyn Weldon’s mail box. Tom said that where he mails his letters and cards. I didn’t know this before Tom came back. Walked over to John Morgans, went to school with him. After I had my Bible study which in Luke 23:33-39 also 2 Cor. 6:2 Prov. 29:1 Romans 10:13. I also read also 20 chapter of Matt. The resurrection of Jesus and 16 chap. of Mark, 24 chap. of Luke, 20 chap. of John. Same things told in a different way. As yesterday was new moon, turned my ______ and the nails then had my exercise, bath, dressed, called Carolyn Weldon. Ask her bring me bread, milk and lettuce which she did this afternoon. Also 2 great big boxes. She had her 4 children with her and Doris McKay little girl. The children was in the car. Finally the boy got out. He wanted to see the motor bike. Then the other children had come see it also and Carolyn had them get back in the car.

This is leap year. Mr. Curley Brown birthday since _______ his wife said he would be 72, she 60. We were talking at Church one day. Mrs. Brown was surprised I was 70 years old. Joann called this morning she wanted know Jay phone number as she tried to get Dorothy. No answer. When she found out she right no. but Jay and his son both work nights. Most likely they were asleep at time Joann tried to phone Dorothy. She finally did get her after 2: p.m., I don’t know. Ask Joann tell Dorothy would like to know if Jay has to work tomorrow or can get off. Tom came home from school. I was going to fix him something to eat when Jerry the boy who stayed over night with him since I came up here came after his records, so Tom rode down with him and his brothers. Tom wanted to buy a harmonica.

Guess he did. Had one when he came home from Pioneer. He eat his dinner of fish sticks and left over spaghetti, ______ bread, glass milk, then he was gone to John Morgan’s place. They came back. I was watching Pony express t.v. show was on. Tom and John went in his room, played guitar and harmonica. Tom asked if could play records when show was over. I said yes. So when was finished they played one record. Guess the boy had to go home. I heard Tom say he would walk away with him. Phone rang. Was John’s mother asking they had been here all the time. I said didn’t know when he left his was home but hadn’t went any place since came here and was on his way home. She talked and I said someone coming, dog barking. I never thought at the time but she might not want her boy know she was checking up on him.

Way she wanted hung up real quick but I made some oatmeal cookies today. They tasted real good but seemed to stick to the cookie sheet, so broke some getting them off. Gave Tom some with a glass of milk. He seemed to like them. I only packed two small boxes today. Read about Jay and Dorothy wedding in the paper Tom brought home from the post office. My it’s such a lovely day. Almost like spring. Have Dorothy radio on to keep me company. I like the family program, have good speakers, also Christian songs and music.
